While most people take examinations with the Royal Schools of Music on an annual or biannual basis, Alexander MacAllister took six grade tests, a theory exam, two Advanced Certificates and a chamber music practical in the space of one year. This achievment was possible due to intensive tuition with various professors, including a two- year intensive with Jan Danielsen (First Amanuensis at the Norwegian National Music Academy in Oslo). He has recently enjoyed the benefits of two years intensive coaching with Tor Andresen Hommeren of the Institute for Italian Song Technique. He has had masterclasses with such notable figures as David Russel and Roland Dyens (guitar); and Barboro Marklund and Håkon Hagegård (voice).
He has performed regularly in major venues in Oslo (including several concerts at the famous Munch Museum). He recently completed a BA (Honours) in Opera Studies - financed by concurrently working up to two hundred hours a week in Health Service middle management!
Business aims
To establish an annual circuit of Festival work and seminars; concerts for music associations; and project-based appointments with schools and music festivals in Britain,Scandinavia and Europe. To promote the art of guitar playing and song through my various activities in the fields of performance and research.
